The People Behind the Work

Four people, one team, and a lot of years in this valley. Every family works with more than one of us.

Wade Hollis, CFP®

Founder & Senior Advisor

Opened the firm above a hardware store on Main Street in 1994 and still sits at most first meetings. Ranch sales, land, and the families behind them are where he spends most of his time, especially the easement conversations that change how a family sees its whole picture. Wade has spent his entire career in Bozoman and has watched the valley grow from a small town into what it is now, without losing his patience for a client who needs something explained twice. He believes a good advisor listens more than he talks, and clients who have worked with him for twenty years will tell you that is true. Outside the office he is usually at a grandkid's game or out checking on a piece of land. He still writes part of the firm's quarterly letter by hand before it gets typed up, because he thinks better with a pen.

Cole Brandt, CFP®, CEPA

Partner, Land & Business Transitions

Leads the work on ranch sales, easements, and business exits, and helps coach the youth rodeo team the firm sponsors. Cole came up through the firm working closely with Wade before taking on the land and business transition side of the practice himself, and he is the one most families call when a sale is starting to feel complicated. He has a steady, direct way of laying out options that clients say makes hard decisions feel manageable. Bozeman is home for him, and coaching the rodeo team most weeks in season keeps him close to the same kids and families the firm has served for years. He is especially attentive to owners who feel like the sale of their business is also the end of an identity, and he takes the time to talk through what comes after, not just the transaction itself.

Ellen Marsh, CPA

Tax Planning Lead

Works alongside clients' attorneys and accountants so a sale is structured before it is signed, not after. Ellen is the person in the room making sure the tax side of a ranch sale or a business exit is settled well ahead of closing, rather than discovered afterward. She has built relationships with the attorneys and accountants many of the firm's clients already use, which keeps everyone working from the same plan instead of untangling surprises later. Clients describe her as calm and precise, someone who explains a complicated tax question in a way that actually makes sense the first time. She is especially useful to families navigating a mineral rights transfer or a multi-step sale where timing matters as much as the numbers. She lives in the Gallatin Valley and values the quiet, steady pace of the work she does behind the scenes.

Nora Vance

Director of Client Relations

The first voice most families hear. Runs the calendar, the barbecue, and the follow-through. Nora is the one who keeps the whole practice running smoothly behind the scenes, from scheduling review meetings to making sure a client's question gets answered the same day it is asked. She organizes the firm's summer client appreciation barbecue every year, which the team considers its best event, and she handles the holiday cards and personal outreach that keep clients feeling looked after between meetings. New clients often say she made them feel comfortable before they even sat down with an advisor. She has deep ties to the Bozeman community and treats every client relationship as something worth protecting, not just managing. Her attention to the small details is a big part of why clients stay with the firm for decades.

Where you'll actually see us

A summer barbecue in a Bozeman backyard, long picnic tables under string lights, mountains on the horizon at golden hour

Every summer we host a client appreciation barbecue in Bozeman, picnic tables and string lights, mountains still lit at eight o'clock. It's the one night of the year we're not talking about statements or paperwork, just catching up.

We sponsor a booth at the county fair most years, and Cole helps coach the youth rodeo team the firm backs. Nora runs the calendar behind all of it, so the events actually happen and the follow-through doesn't slip.

Our office sits on Main Street, above the hardware store where the firm got its start in 1994. A lot of our clients still stop in on their way through town, not because they need something, just to say hello.
